ARW Blogging Assignment 2

My revised thesis statement is The different ways religions define gender roles can be due to the differences between their values as reflected in teachings including the Buddhism teaching that women cannot be enlightenment ones, comparison of Blessed Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalene, and the limitation of women's right in Islam.

The first supporting idea is that Buddhism teaching that women cannot be enlightenment ones and be that one, they have to be reborn as men. The second supporting idea is that Christian, Roman Catholic attitude towards women. A woman, Blessed Virgin Mary is the one of the subjects of worship but on the other hand, Mary Magdalene appears as prostitute in the Bible. The last supporting idea is many limitation of women's right in Islam such as clothing.

Another idea for Essay 1

Topic: The discrimination against women which can be seen in opera, Magic Flute

I realized that Magic Flute has lyrics which discriminate women. Also, it stereotypes women as vice and men are virtue. I think it is hard to find information on this topic but I just thought this topic is kind of interesting for me because I like this opera.

CA Blogging Assignment 1

My topic for my first essay is differences in women's gender role according to religion. The reason I chose this topic is that I am interested in comparing religions. Also, I realized that the role of women are so different between religion.  My thesis will be "Religion affect many aspects of society such as gender role, then how religion define gender role and are there differences between religion."
