CA Blogging Assignment 4

In my opinion, "enhanced" students in the book make me feel kind of disgust.  I wonder that is it right to 'create' such people.  It would be nice if I can learn like them because I always wish to study many things in short time. However, I feel that there is a limit on people's mind. I say, there should be the limit since technology always left ethics behind and I believe that without the limitation, the gap between technology and ethics will became winder and wider.

  1. I believe you're right about the movement of technology beyond the reach of ethics. It's difficult for ethical reasoning to keep up with the galloping pace of technology.

  2. I think you point out the important point which is the gap between technology and ethics. We all should be aware of the ethical problems related to new technology.

  3. I agree that sometimes technology can go too far. There is no guarantee what will happen once the gap between technology and ethics become too wide, possibly beyond our capacity.

  4. Like you pointed out, I also feel that it is alright to 'create' those technological people. I believe technology would not 'create' such people which might cause ethical problems.

  5. I get your point. It is kind of awkward to have such people around you when they have better abilities than you do. However, we need to understand that even if these people were created from scientific technology, these people are no doubt "people". If we distinguish these people and us, that will create a discrimination among these enhanced students, which we dont want that to happen. So from reading your blog, I thought us humans must be extra careful when we comment on the enhanced students.

I know bioethics are improving now but people like me do not have enough information about technology. I wonder how can I define new technology is ethically right or wrong...

Like atomic bomb, people can use new technology without knowing how dangerous it is. I think that developing new technologies are great but people should think "is it right to use?" before using it.

After writing my post, I questioned myself that what is "human nature". Some people says that it is seeking the way to improve. So, creating enhanced people can be defined as human nature. However, I still feel that people will across the border we should not.

I guess I used wrong term but honestly, I feel like that when I read the book. As you mentioned in your blog, I feel disgust because the enhanced students' identities are created. However, I really appreciate your comment that we must not discriminate those people. This is the point I wanted to make which the gap between technology and ethics.
